This Ain’t T-Ball

It didn’t make political sense to put President Obama in the Oval Office to address the nation. Mainly because there was nothing for him to say. My goodness, not after he was looking for an ass to kick. How could he follow up on that?

I was never impressed by the man’s speaking ability. On may a couple of occasions he’s put a couple of sentences together that had some value, but mostly he’s backed away from saying anything conclusive about anything.

There was no purpose in his speaking to the nation on the oil spill since he insists that he is doing everything he can, but that there isn’t anything that he can do. Of course he might find those responsible for saying initially that 1,000 barrels a day were gushing from the well and now they’re saying it’s 60,000 barrels. That’s a big mistake; it’s not like they rounded off in the wrong direction.

Obama’s speech to the nation was a boy who cried wolf. After his fourth pointless trip to the Gulf to capture some news coverage, he called the nation to attention but it seems the purpose was only political. That’s not right.

I think we ought to make some rules about speaking from the Oval Office. Number one would be that the president can’t use Teleprompter. We’re paying guy $400 grand a year. Surely he should know what he’s talking about well enough not to need a written speech, let alone delivering it using a device to make him look like he’s not using it. That would be a big step toward believability.

Number two is that any time he’s to speak to the American people, presumably on a matter of great national importance, he should be hooked up to a polygraph which would register his truthfulness while he spoke. Sorta like a reverse applause meter.

It’s time for some truth from the White House, Mr. Obama. This ain’t t-ball. We’ve got a lot of problems to deal with. We need some leadership. You’re the one we chose to provide it.
